Managing Staff Performance

The recruitment of staff can be a costly, time consuming but necessary process. Once you have found built your team you need to keep it. Developing an effective ‘staff performance’ programme can ensure your staff are motivated and any problematic issues are flagged and dealt with before damage becomes impossible to overcome.

Performance measurement tools ensure that staff are performing to the best of their ability and enable the two of you to plan for their future performance and development.

Often, performance is only measured in an annual appraisal, which is still a valuable part of any performance programme but measurement tools are most effective when applied from the day a member of staff joins your company or team, and throughout the year with regular reviews.

Staff motivation is enhanced by the use of regular reviews. Encouragement given on a regular basis, rather than only once a year, improves output. Likewise, any shortcomings can be addressed before problems arise.
